Current Geriatric Mental Health Foundation Programs

In 2002, GMHF is focused on the following activities:

Long Term Care Initiative
The Foundation’s Long Term Care Initiative is focused on the dissemination of information about current issues in the long term care setting. The Foundation produces a quarterly newsletter distributed to all AAGP members. Each issue focuses on a critical mental health issue in long term care.

The Foundation gratefully acknowledges the generous contributions of AstraZeneca, which made this project possible.

Consumer Brochures
One of the Foundation’s primary goals is to raise public awareness about geriatric mental health issues for the elderly. To meet this goal, the Foundation is developing a series of consumer pamphlets and booklets. The next booklet in this series will be focused on caregiving of the elderly with mental illness.

Evidenced Based Practices Project
The Foundation is developing tool kits for the purpose of providing comprehensive and concise information on evidence based practices for mental illnesses that impact the aging population. The first tool kit focuses on the late-life onset of depression.
