AAGP Welcomes Students and Trainees! Whether you are a medical student, graduate student, or psychiatry resident or fellow, AAGP has a place for you. 

Scholars Program
Through the GMHF Scholars Fund, scholarships are available for medical students and psychiatry residents to attend the AAGP Annual Meeting. 

Member-in-Training Caucus
The MIT Caucus is where AAGP Members-in-Training can come together during the year and at the annual conference. We may be medical students, residents, fellows, early in our career, and/or non-MD track trainees, but our common interest, passion, and commitment bond us together.  See a list of MIT Caucus members and Join the Caucus!

Committee Involvement
Members-in-Training and Student Members are encouraged to get involved in AAGP’s committees.  Your input as a trainee or early career psychiatrist will be valued and welcomed.  Learn more about AAGP committees and contact committee chairs or staff for more information.

  • AAGP has a network of mentors who are ready to help you. Find a mentor.

  • AAGP Barry Lebowitz Early Career Scientist Award
    AAGP shall present an award for the best original research paper submitted by an early career scientist. The award winner will present the paper at a special session at the Annual Meeting.
  • AAGP Member-in-Training Research Award
    AAGP shall present an award for the best original research primarily performed by a member-in-training. The award winner will present the paper at a special session at the Annual Meeting.
  • Nominate your favorite educator for the AAGP Educator of the Year Award
    AAGP will honor a member for demonstrated excellence in the field of geriatric psychiatry education. The award is designed to recognize extraordinary efforts, innovations, and accomplishments that have a direct impact on the quality of geriatric psychiatry education.

Journals and News

The preeminent journal in the field of geriatric psychiatry, the American Journal for Geriatric Psychiatry is published monthly and is a benefit of membership.

AAGP eNews, the official e-newsletter of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, is published every other Tuesday and is a benefit of membership.
 
AAGP’s Position Statements are developed in response to critical issues in geriatric psychiatry. Each Position Statement is carefully crafted after extensive input from a variety of sources and is formally adopted by the AAGP Board of Directors.
