Professor, Geropsychiatrist - University of California, Irvine’s School of Medicine

The University of California, Irvine’s School of Medicine has an opportunity for a Full Professor (Line Series) with Tenure. The Professor holds primary responsibility performing clinical research, including interventional studies, for Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related dementias. The incumbent will hold key responsibilities in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and the Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders, including serving as the Director of Clinical Research in the UCI Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Activities of the Director of Clinical Research are designed to gain knowledge related to the optimal understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of age related cognitive disorders. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent and extramurally funded program of research at UCI and will be immediately responsible for scientific oversight and research objectives for an ongoing longitudinal cohort study. In addition, the candidate will have teaching assignments in the School of Medicine and resident and fellow training. Salary is commensurate with the experience of the individual candidate.

Requirements: Successful candidates must be a licensed (in California) physician with fellowship training in geriatric psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, or a related area. Candidates should be a recognized international expert in the fields of aging, mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease, with a strong track record of publication and extramural funding. The applicant must have a strong background in clinical trials, including multisite network studies. The job requires strong organizational and administrative skills as well as mentoring skills for junior faculty, fellows, and other trainees.
