Inpatient Geropsychiatry Position in Triangle Area, NC
Central Regional Hospital, a 398-bed psychiatric hospital in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina, is seeking a geriatric psychiatrist to join a team of three other geropsychiatrists. This position will lead a multidisciplinary treatment team that will focus on the behavioral care of patients on the 40-bed geropsychiatry service. A full-time medical physician and mid-level provider manage the medical care for patients on this service.
Central Regional Hospital is one of three psychiatric hospitals operated by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. It is a newly-built modern facility occupied in 2008. It is located in Butner, NC, 15 miles northeast of Durham, NC. The hospital is an easy commute to Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Central Regional Hospital has affiliations with the Schools of Medicine at both Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It is a principal training site for medical students, residents and fellows from both universities.
Applicants for this position must have graduated from an accredited medical school and completed an accredited residency in general psychiatry. Completion of a geropsychiatry fellowship is preferred, but experience with geriatric patients will be considered. Board certification in general adult and geriatric psychiatry is preferred. North Carolina medical licensure is required before employment can be finalized.
