This session, sponsored by the AAGP Public Policy Committee, will provide updates on recent federal and state mental health legislation and policy issues and will feature AAGP Public Policy Committee members who have been engaged advocates for geriatric mental health over this past year.

Objectives

  1. Participants will be able to identify key current issues in aging and mental health policy.

  2. Participants will be able to identify key resources for keeping up to date on advocacy and legislative activities related to mental health and aging policy.

  3. Participants will become familiar with the variety of ways one can engage in advocacy at the local, state, and national level.

  4. Participants will become familiar with the benefits of the Health and Aging Policy Fellowship.
