Long Island’s premier academic medical center, Stony Brook Medicine, represents
Stony Brook University’s entire medical enterprise and integrates all of Stony Brook’s
health-related initiatives: education, research and patient care. It encompasses Stony
Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, the five Health Sciences
schools — Dental Medicine, Health Technology and Management, Medicine, Nursing

The Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry will serve as an Attending Psychiatrist in
the Geriatric Outpatient Psychiatry Program. Responsibilities include direct patient care
in the geriatric outpatient clinic including diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, and
teaching and supervision of medical students, residents and fellows. Stony Brook
Psychiatry has experienced rapid growth in telepsychiatry with immense success.
Providers will experience the gratification of being able to serve a variety of patients
throughout the state of New York both in person and via telemedicine and engage
patients that may not otherwise have access to psychiatric services. Shifts totaling 40
hours per week with cross coverage as necessary, including weekend/holiday coverage
for a 28-bed Inpatient Adult Psychiatry Unit and consults (one day of call approximately
once every 7-8 weeks).

There are also opportunities for research involving dementia, depression and aging
related studies at the Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease (CEAD).

Required Qualifications:
MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent) with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in
Adult Psychiatry. Eligibility for New York State licensure.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Clinical experience in Geriatric Psychiatry.
• Track record of research.
• Teaching experience in Psychiatry.
• Experience in Telepsychiatry.
