McLean Hospital invites applications from qualified individuals for the Chief of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry. The Chief will build upon and lead a strong geriatric psychiatry program across all mission elements of clinical care, research and training. This position reports directly to the President and Psychiatrist-in-Chief of McLean Hospital and is associated with an endowed chair at McLean Hospital. The Chief is responsible for leadership of the division’s clinical care including inpatient and outpatient services, memory diagnostic services, as well as consultation services to assisted living and nursing homes. The Chief will also build upon a robust program of funded research in collaboration with clinical researchers and clinicians in the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry and other specialty psychiatry, neuroimaging and neuroscience collaborators across McLean Hospital. McLean offers an outstanding environment for research, including a state-of-the-art Imaging Center, extensive Basic Neuroscience Laboratories, a Department of Neuropsychology, and the Harvard Brain Bank. The Chief of the Division will have demonstrated ability to direct clinical services, develop an independent research program, mentor trainees and junior faculty, and have an interest in establishing collaborations with other clinicians and investigators at McLean and across Harvard Medical School as well as Mass General Brigham. They will also have a successful track record of demonstrated success as a researcher including national recognition and a publication record indicative of expertise related to geriatric psychiatry. The Chief of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry will provide leadership to the multiple training programs offered in the division including core rotations in geriatric psychiatry for three Harvard Medical School psychiatry residency training programs, the Mass General Brigham geriatric psychiatry fellowship, medical student elective rotations, psychology and neuropsychology trainees, and other multidisciplinary training. The Chief of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry will have opportunities to also work across the hospital’s array of specialty Divisions including the Divisions of Depression and Anxiety, Women’s Mental Health, Psychotic Disorders, and Alcohol, Drugs and Addiction. Opportunities exist for developing strong clinical and research collaborations within McLean Hospital and across HMS as well as Mass General Brigham.
Salary and recruitment package will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with institutional guidelines. This position will incorporate an HMS faculty appointment commensurate with qualifications meeting academic appointment criteria up to Associate Professor.
MD degree and Board Certification in psychiatry from an accredited training program, and eligibility for full licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are required. Board certification in geriatric psychiatry from an accredited training program is preferred. Women and minorities underrepresented in medicine are encouraged to apply. Extramural research funding is preferred.
