SUNY Downstate Medical University, located in Brooklyn, N.Y., has full-time and part-time faculty positions for geriatric psychiatrists in our division that will be available for July 1, 2020 or sooner. Downstate is the only medical school in Brooklyn, the largest borough in New York City, with a culturally diverse population of 2.6 million persons. The Division of Geriatric Psychiatry division is one of the oldest programs in the country.

The position includes supervising and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in our rapidly expanding program that now includes $6 million in federal and state funding for our Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease and a Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program. The position also entails working with other professional groups including faculty and students in nursing, occupational therapy, social work, and public health as well as with local primary care physicians and community health centers. The division has a long history of research and clinical grant funding, and there are ample opportunities for developing novel projects.  This is a wonderful position for anyone who wishes to embark on or build upon an academic career in geriatric psychiatry in New York City.  There are excellent benefits and reimbursement to national academic meetings. Salary and faculty rank will be commensurate with experience.
